Will I have to buy vegetables I don't want?

Unlike some co-ops, buying clubs, or CSAs where everyone gets the same box of stuff (and you don’t know what you’re getting until you get it), with Locally Grown you get to order what you want, in the quantities that you want, from the farms that you want. The weekly email lists the produce, fresh flowers, and artisan goods available that week, and you can browse the items on this website before you place your order.

How do I order?

Customers must place their order no later than 6 am for same day pickup. (During winter we only pack orders on our open days- see header above for schedule)Orders can be placed here on our website.
We also still have our regular physical stand located at 11 Needham Road in Potsdam. It is open May through November from 10 am- 6 pm Tuesday-Saturday. Here you will find a large, ever changing, selection of produce when it is in season. You can also use this website to get a sense of what is in season and then come and shop at the stand if this better suits your needs.
We do sell wholesale when we have enough available.

Contact us directly(e-mail, phone, in person) for any wholesale orders.

Why Support Locally Grown?

Enhance your local economy: By purchasing produce and other items from local growers you are providing stability to your local economy through the support of local businesses.

Save natural resources: Buying locally makes you an invaluable link in the process of saving resources such as fossil fuels and packaging materials. Also, we are right here in your community so the expense of transportation and delivery is kept to a minimum.

Provide learning opportunities: Locally Grown supporters provide member growers the means to help educate our community about the importance of sustainable agriculture.

Supporting a way of life: The number of small farms in the United States has decreased dramatically in the last decade. Please help us preserve an honest and worthy means of making a living.

We believe that small, diverse, family-owned farms contribute to society’s overall health.

What happens if I forget to pick up my order?

Oh no! I forgot to pickup my order! Now what?
Well, I’m sorry we missed you. If your items are still here the next day and we do not hear from you your items will be donated or given away! We do not have a means to keep items for a long time, or to deliver them to you. If we were able to reach you on the phone, we may be able to work out an arrangement, but otherwise, your items will be donated or given away.
You are still responsible for paying for items, even if you do not pick them up. We’ll charge your account, and that amount will get added to your next order.

Can I order even if an item is sold out?

Should I order even if something is sold out?

Growers are asked to estimate how many items they will have available each week (for vegetable growers this involves looking at the live plants and guessing what they will amount to once they are harvested). Sometimes these estimates are off from the actual amount that is available. If a vegetable is “sold out” but you would like to try your luck you may go ahead and order it anyway. Once you get to know your growers you may become aware of the ones that are better at estimating. Some numbers are not estimates. Meat, for instance, is usually in the freezer when it is listed on the website.

What if I am not happy with the quality of something I have ordered?

Satisfaction is guaranteed or you have the choice of getting your money back, replacement product or to you can select similar value of other available product. You can reject something you have ordered if you are not satisfied with the product quality. If this happens, the product will be returned to the grower. We welcome all feedback, and negative feedback is especially important to ensure high quality and customer satisfaction. If you find hidden quality problems after you get home, contact us as soon as possible. Please let us know about problems even if you do not wish for a refund.

What should I do if I need to cancel my order because something came up?

Let us know as soon as possible.

Here are some things you can do to insure you won’t get charged for things you didn’t come pick-up:

1. If you know prior to order packing time that you won’t be able to come get your order, send me an email or call us at 265-1246 and I will cancel your order.
2. If you find out later that you can’t come, call me, or send me an email. So long as I know reasonably early in the afternoon I can put the things you ordered on the farmstand and your fellow customers will likely buy them.

You are still responsible for paying for any items you order but do not come pick up if you do not cancel your order. If this happens, I will charge your account, and the total will be added to your next order.
